Our Story

Hello there! Welcome to Buckeye Golden Retrievers! Our 5 acre homestead in rural Dundee, OH is home to our beautiful AKC American and English Cream Golden Retrievers. Golden Retrievers are truly America's finest family dog. With a friendly and loyal personality, Golden Retrievers are the ultimate family pet, good with kids and eager to please!

2005 - The Beginning

Meet the Founder

Buckeye Golden Retrievers started in 2005 with the arrival of our first litter of Golden Retrievers from our family pet, Mocha. I quickly fell in love with the friendly and loyal ways of our Golden Retriever.

I was 12 years old at the time. A distinct memory I have from childhood was holding a Golden Retriever puppy the night that my Grandpa passed away.

I remember the feeling of comfort that puppy brought to me. I'm sure many of you resonate with that special bond.

Our Buckeye families come from all over the USA, with a large majority coming from within our very own Buckeye state, Ohio. Thank you for trusting us with this special part of your life! We look forward to many more years of breeding high quality Golden Retrievers. It has truly been an adventure and a privilege meeting each one of our buyers and seeing our Golden pups going on to become family members, therapy dogs, service dogs, and life-long companions!

  • Planned breedings

    Carefully planned breedings with genetic-tested, OFA certified purebred AKC Golden Retrievers. Each puppy comes with a 2 year genetic health guarantee.

  • Warm, clean raising

    Raising our puppies in warm, clean environments and following best-practice vaccination and deworming protocols.

  • Socialized from day 1

    Socializing our puppies involves regular handling and playtime starting at day 1. We incorporate sound desensitization by playing common noises like thunder, sirens, chirping birds, and vacuums to name a few. Play time includes many different toys and regular interaction with adults and children alike.

  • A personal experience

    Providing you with a personalized, fun, and professional experience from start to finish. We help match you with the right puppy by completing personality tests on each puppy. Additionally, we provide weekly update photos as the puppies grow!

  • Vet-checked health

    Working closely with board-certified veterinarians to ensure you are getting a healthy, vet-checked puppy. Our vets also ensure that our breeding age mamas are staying in optimal health.

Today, Buckeye Goldens is comprised of a closed group of several small, professional breeders in Ohio.

I (Marcellus) breed and raise Goldens in our newly-finished facility on my 5 acre country homestead in Dundee, OH. Josh, Marcus, and Micah are Buckeye Team Members with a combined 40+ years of experience. I work closely with each trusted member of our team to ensure that our standards are met, including everything from genetics, health certifications, to puppy socialization and everything in between. This collaboration enables us to make Golden Retriever puppies available to you throughout the year, while giving our Goldens the quality life they deserve.

An entrepeneur at heart, Marcellus invests a lot of his time running Buckeye Goldens. He's responsible for all communications, website design and management, and of course raising Goldens! He serves as a firefighter/paramedic and is a fitness and outdoor enthusiast. He loves being a part of bringing happiness to your life through Golden pups!

Team Member

Josh is a committed father and husband to his wife and 3 young children. Josh and his family raise 3-6 litters of Goldens each year and have an absolute blast along the way! Also serving in fire/ems, Josh has a heart for helping people and finds fulfillment in serving his community and breeding healthy Goldens!

Having grown up on a farm, Lillian has a deep love for animals and loves seeing them thrive! Her specialties within Buckeye Goldens include caring for the adult Goldens and training pups in our 10 day program! Lil is a NASM certified personal trainer who enjoys coaching and helping others reach their fitness and nutritional goals.

With a passion for photography and videography, Trev loves capturing special moments and telling visual stories through his lens. Travel is a huge part of his life, further inspiring his creativity! Trev has always loved animals, and working with Goldens adds an extra layer of joy to his life!

If you take advantage of our to your door delivery services, you might get to meet Markus! Currently studying psychology in college, Markus is a thinker who enjoys candid conversations, Indian food, and a hearty laugh!

Aubrey

Aubrey

Team Member

Aubrey grew up on a KY farm and loved showing livestock in 4-H. She obtained her B.S. in Agriculture, and now works as a bovine IVF embryologist. Aubrey's specialty at Buckeye Goldens is completing the puppy aptitude testing. Her background and personality make her a great fit for this, and her heart melts every time she meets a new puppy!
